Christmas Vision Challenge: Your gift matched, dollar-for-dollar for children at risk!
Boys and girls living in the world’s poorest countries face an epic crisis. More than 19 million children are visually impaired. Their chance of survival is bleak. One out of every two children who goes blind will die within two years.
For the second year in a row, a generous donor has agreed to match every dollar CBM raises for its Christmas Vision Challenge - dollar-for-dollar - up to $50,000!
With a gift of $30, $50, or even $100, you can help us prevent blindness and restore eyesight to thousands of children around the world.
Children like 5-year-old Vaileth and her sister, 4-year-old Susana, need our help now. They live in a rural village in Tanzania. Both little girls are going blind from cataracts in both eyes.
Vaileth and Susana (along with a cousin) are being raised single-handedly by their grandmother, Fausta. Fausta breaks down into tears as she says,
“It has been very difficult feeding and looking after them all. I do different things on different days - farming or tending to our goats and chickens. But every day, the first thing I do is find some food for the children.”
Fausta says the girls’ poor eyesight affects them every day. They struggle to find things - even spoons that Fausta places directly in front of them. They are unable to help with any tasks around the house.
Fausta is desperate.
“I’ve cried to the Lord,” she says. “I thought my work was done when I raised my own children, but now I have three more to raise. God still has work for me to do.”
During her most difficult times, Fausta says she turns to this Bible verse:
“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.”
- James 1:12
Please be a steward of Jesus’ love to Fausta and others like her by making a gift today.
