Low Vision

- 124 million people worldwide have low vision
- In the developing world, this condition can be as debilitating as blindness
What Is Low Vision?
A person with low vision is someone who has impairment of visual function even after treatment or glasses. They are significantly visually handicapped. Low vision aids such as magnifying glasses, telescopes or special computer devices are often needed to help provide some level of functional vision.
How CBM helps
Visual magnifying devices such as high-powered eyeglasses and loupes along with proper training, allow children with low vision - even children with less than 10% of their vision – to be integrated into local schools.
With a pair of $4 eyeglasses or a $35 loupe, a young person can go from functional blindness to functional sight.
