The CBM National Council

In 2004, CBM began an increased effort to raise awareness and financial support in the United States. As part of this effort, the CBM National Council was formed to encourage a better understanding and awareness of blindness and disability issues in the developing world and to promote increased domestic support of CBM.

The CBM National Council is a group of committed donors who truly believe in the mission of our organization and the importance of our services to the blind and disabled around the world. The Council is dedicated to encouraging a better understanding and awareness of blindness and disability issues in the developing world and promoting increased support of CBM. It is also an opportunity for CBM to increase awareness about their mission and programs and an opportunity for individuals, foundations, and corporations to support the work of CBM at a significant level.

Benefits of Membership:

• National Council members join a community of similarly committed philanthropic leaders and advocates across the country. Membership is open to all individuals and organizations with an interest in supporting CBM.
• In recognition of their generosity, National Council members are invited to attend our Annual National Council Meeting in New York City. The first Annual Meeting, was attended by over 100 distinguished guests, including Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani and featured keynote speaker Heather Whitestone McCallum, the first woman with a disability to be crowned Miss America. Network with national and international experts at annual meetings and other assemblies.
• Through events like this one, members are also given the exclusive opportunity to meet national and international leaders in the fields of medicine and disability advocacy. Access research and information on cutting-edge innovations in blindness and other disability treatment and prevention methods.
• National Council members also receive the bi-annual Insight Newsletter, which contains highlights of CBM’s activities in the United States and abroad. Support CBM without the time commitment and accountability of a traditional board of directors.
