Top Awards for CBM Zimbabwe Country Director

CBM Zimbabwe Country Director, Ms. Deborah Tigere bagged two awards in the Directors category following nominations from Institute of Directors Zimbabwe (IODZ).
Ms. Tigere walked away with two awards - ‘Woman Director of the Year-NGO’ and ‘Director of the year-NGO and Civil Society Organisations’.
I am pleased and humbled to have received the two awards recognising my leadership in the NGO and Civil Society Sector as well as a woman in a leadership position. My success serves as a great inspiration to many women. My drive has been to reach out to people with disabilities and their communities and ensuring the meaningful participation of people with disabilities in humanitarian and mainstream development. Speaking at the event which was held virtually owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, IoDZ Director, Dr. Mike Juru applauded businesses for staying afloat regardless of the challenges the pandemic has come with.
“We honour extraordinary individuals who persevered during an unprecedented pandemic, as they steered their organisations in uncertain trying times with unforeseen economic downturns, and social unrest where a new normal was defined with new trending words such as social distancing, remote working and virtual meetings.''
The theme for this year’s awards, “Effective Leadership: Building Sustainable Enterprises”, accentuates that effective corporate leaders should stand on a foundation of solid governance principles to build enduring enterprises.
