Joining the GCSPF allows CBM to advocate internationally for persons with disabilities and influence global policies and initiatives.

CBM joins the Global Coalition for Social Protection Floors (GCSPF), a worldwide network dedicated to advancing social protection.

This partnership strengthens CBM’s commitment to building a more inclusive world where social protection systems fully embrace persons with disabilities as stated in CBM’s Strategy 2030.

By joining the GCSPF, CBM gains a stronger platform for international advocacy on behalf of persons with disabilities. The coalition's work with influential organisations such as the United Nations, the International Labour Organisation, the World Health Organisation, and the World Bank ensures that our advocacy efforts reach the highest levels of global decision-making, allowing us to impact policies and initiatives that affect persons with disabilities.

What does this mean for persons with disabilities

Jackie Kwesiga, the Country Director of CBM Uganda, and Dominique Schlupkothen, the Director of Community-Based Inclusive Development at CBM, recently visited a group of VSLA community members in Mityana along with NUDIPU. VSLAs help participants increase their access to and control over resources, and they enable the community to use collective power to overcome social and financial barriers.

This membership marks a significant step towards greater inclusion in social protection systems worldwide for persons with disabilities. CBM will work through the GCSPF to ensure that disability is prioritised in discussions about social protection, leading to policies and programs that truly meet the needs of persons with disabilities.

Our representative, Anne Schrader, will focus on advocacy and UN engagement, ensuring that the rights and needs of persons with disabilities are central to global conversations on social protection. Her participation in various working groups will drive inclusive policies that empower peorsons with disabilities to live with dignity and security.

This new chapter in our advocacy work enables CBM to amplify our efforts to reduce poverty, eliminate barriers, and promote equal opportunities for persons with disabilities worldwide. Together with our partners in the GCSPF, we are dedicated to creating a future where everyone, regardless of ability, is protected and supported.
